A solid 5 star book!
The Good… From the first page, I couldn’t put this down or read fast enough.
The Bad… I didn’t want the book to end, but it did!
The Best… There is gonna be more!
Kai Brodie needs to get from one point to another to deliver an important message for a Resistance leader. The route she takes could be a landmine of trouble, but she has traveled it so often, it’s almost second nature to her. Maybe that is why she was captured, her focus wasn’t what it should have been.
Having to keep her true identity hidden is just one of the many obstacles she needs to handle and overcome. Resisting the pull of her attraction to Rachel, an Anointed guard and sworn enemy of all that she believes in, proves to be the hardest hurdle in her journey.
Like I mentioned above, this book was a real page turner for me, and I seriously cannot wait for the second book in the series. The characters were well developed, even the ones I truly despised were well written. The twists and turns the book took made the reading even more pleasurable, while nothing was ever obvious until just the right moment when it all clicked in place.
The romance was paced nicely so it was believable. While Kai knew how she felt, she was almost afraid of her feelings. Rachel wasn’t as easily convinced of her feelings, which fed off of the detail in the story, making everything feel real.
This is not your everyday romance, which in my opinion, make it all the better. But it does have all the natural ingredients for a beautiful love story, angst included, with the happy ever after we all look for.
